Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in Ushuaia
Arrive in Ushuaia on a morningh flight (not included) and transfer to your hotel.
In the afternnon we will have a walk with penguins
Departing from the office at the tourist dock in Ushuaia, we drive in our minibuses towards northeast along Nationals route 3 & J, the appealing road to Harberton Ranch. This is the first farm on the island, founded in 1886 by the Anglican missionary Thomas Bridges, and it is located at 90 kms from Ushuaia, on the Beagle Channel. We sail from Harberton harbor to Martillo Island, a 15 minute ride on a semi-rigid boat (vessel capable of navigation in the area). On the island, we walk for 1 hour along Gentoo and Magellanics penguins, always with a guide, experiencing a unique adventure. Martillo Island is part of the Estancia Harberton, and home to Magellanic penguins between September and April. They share the habitat with other birds, such as skúas (their main predator), petrels, cormorants, vultures and South American terns. The rookery hosts around 1000 nests, and is one of the three Magellanic penguin rookeries in Tierra del Fuego. There is also a small colony of 9 breeding couples of gentoo penguins (Pygocelis Papua), the only one in South America.
Day 2: Ushuaia
After breakfast we will have an off road lakes excursion.
Wild landscapes, adrenaline and a cocktail of emotions are some of the things that will be waiting for you on this amazing experience. We invite you to live a day in Tierra del Fuego countryside, to be part of this exciting adventure full of anecdotes and moments that will leave you breathless.
We pick you up at your hotel in the morning and we head to Ushuaia’s exit through the National Road N°3. Our first stop will be at the panoramic point of Carbajal Valley; where we will be able to appreciate the glacier origin. We continue the drive till we arrive to Ushuaia Blanca located in the touristic resort Villa Las Cotorrasfor a quick technical stop.
We get back on the road where we will be amazed by the spectacular landscapes offered by Andes Mountains. We finally get to pass this mountains range through the legendary “Paso Garibaldi”; we will have the most spectacular postcard just in front of our eyes, Escondido and Fagnano Lakes are now visible. We start descending through an alternative road; this is the beginning of our 4x4 journey. Here is where we get inside the fuegian forest through the paths that were used by the first lumberjacks looking to exploit these lands. This way we will get to Escondido Lake where we will prepare some Argentinian “Mate” and share some snacks while enjoying the amazing view. Our adventure continuous and we get to Fagnano Lake where we can see the Magallanes fault line.
After the adventure we head to a small village located on the Escondido Lake where we will have lunch at La Casona del Rio Milna and we will enjoy their home made cuisine. Lots of options to choose from for the starter, main dish, desert, with beverages and coffee included.
After lunch and a nice talk we head back to the hotel.
Day 3: Ushuaia
After breakfast we will have an excursion to Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego.
Just north of Ushuaia is the Parque Nacional Tierra del Fuego, Argentina's first coastal national park. The trail system of easy and undemanding paths makes this an ideal place to spend a relaxing day exploring Patagonia. We'll wander along the coastal path, undoubtedly the most beautiful in the park. The 3 ½ hour hike takes us through forests of both high and low deciduous beech, evergreen beech, winterbark, firebrush, and more. We finish the walk at Lake Roca in time for lunch. After eating our fill, we climb into inflatable canoes and begin the easy downstream paddle to the Ovando River. The crystal-clear water runs into Laguna Verde, one of the most picturesque, panoramic spots in the park. Our take-out point is Lapataia Bay, where we may see petrels, albatross, steamer ducks, and on occasion, penguins. We'll return to Ushuaia for dinner and a restful sleep.
Day 4: Depart of Ushuaia
Breakfast. Check Out of your hotel and before you depart from Ushuaia to your next destination you will have a sailing Trip to les Eclareurs Lighthouse and Sea lions Island.
We leave the local port in a comfortable catamaran, crossing the bay of Ushuaia and enjoying the mountainous environment. In the course of the navigation, we will visit colonies of Southamerican Furs Seals, Rock Cormorants and Imperial Cormorants. We approach the lighthouse Les Eclaireurs, icon of our city and we return to the city bordering the coast of the Beagle Channel. Afternoon transfer to Ushuaia Airport and flight to your next destination.
